Could we be making more progress, faster? Are there problems to solve, or capabilities to gain that are "unlocks" for the next steps of civilization?
Imagine writing down 99 problems for your domain. Alongside a million other people! Now make it easy to gather the problems into maps. It’s a network of problems!
Or let’s start from the top. How do we chart - and fund - humanity’s challenges, from cracking climate to exploring the cosmos?
The point is not to agree; some solutions will seem like problems to others. The point is to coordinate with those solving similar problems, to find and fund new opportunities.
A good way to figure out if such maps are useful is by prototyping them. For that, we need an app that allows you to contribute, fork, and iterate.
The main $30k prize is for creating such an app.
Or, you can constructively tell us why we’re wrong and win a $1k bounty.
Create a fun app to open source collaboration on maps of problems (Miro-style) through crowdsourcing (Wikipedia-style) and crowdfunding (Kickstarter-style).
The app you're building must meet the following constraints:
Open: built using open source using apache 2/MIT, so front-end developers can find new ways to engage with the data
Editable: anyone can modify and improve the content
Goals: allows definition of target outcomes, milestones and dependencies
In addition, here are a few features we consider important:
Hierarchy: support hierarchy and multiple levels
Multi-perspective: multiple “truths” can coexist, or fork off
Attractive: simple, fun, futurist design
Interoperable: export and import data into other graph-based systems
Incentivization: allows crowdfunding
Mobile-friendly: main features are available through a mobile version
The more features you hit, the better for winning the $50k main prize!
But there is also a $10k prize for building out one feature especially well
We don't expect a perfectly working app. We'd love to see an exciting prototype for what such an app could look like.
If we like the prototype and you enjoyed building it, we hope you consider collaborating with us on the creation of the actual app post hackathon.
The submission deadline is March 14, 2022, and the prize will be awarded on March 30, 2022.

Best Prototype App
You built the best prototype app overall. Ideally, but not necessarily, you have some interest in a continued collaboration on actually building the app.
Tell us constructively how this project could be improved and win $1000!
Special Feature Award
You built out one feature extremely well.
Submitting to this hackathon could earn you:
simple, fun, futurist design (e.g. Civilization game)
anyone can modify and improve the content
allows definition of target outcomes, milestones and dependencies
multiple “truths” can coexist, or fork off (e.g. Github)
export and import data into other graph-based systems
allows crowdfunding (e.g. via tokenization, crypto bounties)
built using open source using apache 2/MIT, so front-end developers can find new ways to engage with the data
main features are available through a mobile version
